Happy 7th Birthday Tanner!

Tanner had a fabulous birthday!

This boy didn't want cake, cookies, or brownies for a birthday cake! Just some good ole homemade blueberry muffins!

Pretty simple, right?!  Note to self – always put in contacts before baking.  Hopefully that’ll avoid the mix up between baking soda and baking powder, making the next batch actually edible :)

For his party, he wanted to go to Cosmic Jump – filled with wall-to-wall trampolines and bounce houses

He went back and forth between the theme.  Each day was different, ranging from Minecraft, Star Wards, Transformers, Power Ranges, this boy likes SO many things! Ultimately, we went with Star Wars.

The P-A-R-T-Y!

Birthdays have BIG expectations.  After all, the talk about it almost every day, like it’s just around the corner even if it was just his birthday yesterday.  This was SO fun!

Cousin Mason flying down and his friend Tres – who always has the best expressions!

Tanner with his pal Jack!  Best part of creating a new congregation at church was discovering new Friends!

Glad Tanner still asked to have some girls come along too – even thinking of his sister Brooke!  We’re lucky to see these 2 girls – Sariah and Charlotte, at both church and school!

The two toothless boys are friends from 1st grade – Jaxon and Tyler.   They also do Taekwondo and Tanner can’t wait til he’s a green belt like Tyler.

I got lucky on a few, but most of the pictures where in action – near impossible to get them to stop moving!

Soccer pals – Tanner, Mason, Matthew, and Jack.  Pretty they cared more about playing with each other than scoring goals, but they have so MUCH fun when they’re together, I can’t say I blame them!!

And to add to the excitement, a HURRICANE stimulator.  The cost $2.00.  Expression on their faces – priceless!  Plus, I’m pretty sure they filled every square inch on the floor!

Anthony came straight from work, thankful he could leave early and join in the birthday festivities.

He went right to work with these kiddos!!!

But the kids didn’t waste any time – throwing it right back at ‘em.IMG_3919 IMG_3924

And of course, we sang happy birthday.  Making sure to load them  up with lots of sugar right before it’s time for them to go home.

For the party favors, I would have loved to have more time to make light sabers from pool noodles.  But I found these fun water gun blasters on clearance last summer and stocked up!

And Uncle Jeremy’s birthday card received  a few days earlier got repurposed into the perfect decorations :)

The LOOT!  Everyone was so generous and spoiled him rotten!  Seriously, birthdays are better than Christmas around here.  Now I know why they’re always so excited!!IMG_3943

Here’s just a handful of things I absolutely love about him

He has a wicked crazy imagination.  Once he gets started telling a story, he’ll keep going and going and going.

Still ask if something is real or pretend.  Reading a story, watching a movie, everything.  We were watching Paddington – “Mom, this isn’t real, is it?!?” When he comes home from school and starts telling me stories about his day, I have to ask the same question!  He mixes lots of facts with fiction, but it always makes for a great story, lol!

He recently came home from school with a worksheet, ALL ABOUT ME.  My favorite part.  “When I’m by myself, I like to…”  His response -- Talk!  It’s so true.  This morning I woke up and found Tanner having the best of time talking to himself as he’s playing with Legos.  With the door shut – you’d never know he was by himself in there, lol!

He’s very sensitive, which causes him to get his feelings hurt easily.  Yet it makes him so kind and compassionate towards others.  When I can remember to not get upset and explain my frustrations calmly – he instantly understands, greats me with a huge hug, and snaps out of whatever mood he was in earlier.

He’s super sweet with his sisters.  He’s learned a hefty dose of patience over the past few years with them, but I couldn’t imagine a better older brother.  He adores Rylee, always choosing her side most the time.  He makes up fun games for them to play together, forts to hide in, and even lets them play with his Legos *most* the time!

And while he does occasionally lose his temper and yell (not at them, but at me, lol!), the girls will start to cry anytime it gets loud or if he’s upset.  It can spiral out of control fast, but usually he’s the the first to run to them and comfort them, saying, “I’m sorry, it’s okay” in the sweetest voice, especially when I leave the room :)

Loves Legos, Minecraft, Nerf battles (even if no darts are fired), light sabers, swords, transformers, Disney Cars, Legos, Legos, and Legos.

And no matter how old he gets, he’s still afraid to be by himself in the dark (good thing for nightlights), and is an awesome reader, but prefers to read cuddled up next to someone.

Happy Birthday to the sweetest, imaginative, and crazy 7 year old!!!
